Narora Faction

What happens when a grouped unit uses Stasis?

The unit using Stasis must place itself on top of the unit it is affecting. When it does so, it leaves the rest of its group, and the next unit in the group is revealed.

What happens when a unit uses Naroran Rift to teleport to a fortress spire?

The unit teleports to the top of the spire as normal. When the unit moves off of the spire, it must move onto an adjacent hex. Only heroes can move onto the fortress gate hex from here. They must do so in order to return to the fortress; they do not automatically return if they teleport to a fortress spire.

When Anvasse uses Matter Distortion, do you get to construct a spire for free on that earthscape like in the build phase?

No. The ability to construct a spire on a placed earthscape is tied to the Place Earthscape build option. A player can use a limited build option to place a spire on the newly placed earthscape's Source well or wells at the start of their turn, so long as they have influence over the hex the Source well is on.

When a Naroran unit moves off of a spire with Naroran Rift into the hex of a displaceable unit, such as one with Flying, does that unit get displaced onto the spire?

No, not unless the unit being displaced is a Naroran unit. Spires with Naroran Rift cannot be occupied by non-Naroran units. In this case, you would displace the unit to the closest valid hex of the Narora's choice instead.

After a minion leaves its group to be placed on a Source well, can the new leading minion of that group trigger a fusion that same turn?

No, it could not do so yet the same turn. The group must already have moved in order for the first minion to have ungrouped and be placed on the Source well. A fusion can only be triggered directly after a unit's movement, which it no longer is. The next turn, if the group is able to move in such a way that it ends its movement still adjacent to the minion on the Source well, at that point it would be able to trigger a fusion.

Can the Stone Spire use Quake if there are no units to attack?

No. The Stone Spire has to be attacking in order for this ability to trigger before its attack. Quake reads: if this spire is on a mountain hex, before its attack during the spires fire step, you may remove the bottom upgrade from an opposing spire in range, remove 1 health from a landmark in range, or remove a facedown landmark in range from play. The facedown landmark is not considered defeated.

Solo & Co-op

23 questions

Brawnen and Heirs Co-Op 1, Skypact: can the Brawnen and Heirs construct spires from a landmark reward?

No. The Brawnen and Heirs cannot construct spires in this scenario regardless of the reason, including if the spire is granted as a reward from a defeat. If a landmark grants a spire for its defeat, the reward is forfeit.

Co-op Brawnen and Grovetenders 2, Anomaly Thine: what is the heir mark in Wave 1?

Wave 1 dictates the heir mark as the Heirs fortress gate. This line simply should not be there. The Heirs and Narora act as a single faction, therefore the Heirs use the same mark as the Narora.

Co-op Horizon's Wrath and Grovetenders 1, The Black Ball Line: which hexes does the second set-up bullet refer to?

The second bullet of Set-up notes the incorrect hexes. It should read: use a random facedown market chip on Hex F to denote the location of the grovetender deployment hex and the heir mark chip on Hex G to represent the Heirs Intelligence.

Co-op Keel 2, Shadow and Light: on which hexes does the AI construct its spires in Waves 2 and 3?

The Event Phase instructions for Waves 2 and 3 state the incorrect hexes that the AI should construct its spires on. It should say: construct a portal spire with two fortification upgrades on each Hex C and a refractor spire with attack, range, and attack upgrades on each Hex D, if possible. The AI is rebuilding its portals and refractors on the same hexes that they had them on during setup.

Co-op Narora and Grovetenders 1, Strange Incursion: should I set up earthscapes even though there is no market?

Yes. The instructions say not to set up a market for this scenario. However, you should set up earthscapes even though you cannot purchase them, so that Anvasse can use Matter Distortion.

Do AI factions collect rewards for defeating units?

No. AI factions do not collect rewards from defeating units, whether they are Source, relics, or spires. The rewards shown on the defeated unit are simply lost.

Do AI units explore?

No. AI units do not explore on their turns. They may, however, attack a landmark minion if it is the highest priority opponent within their range.

Do multiple opposing AI factions attack each other?

No. AI factions are always friendly to each other unless otherwise stated. This means they will not attack each other.

Do scenarios have to be played in order, or can I play them as one-offs?

The scenarios are meant to be played in the order they are presented. However, you can play most scenarios as one-offs if you wish. You should try to select scenarios that do not have carryover from the previous scenario. Otherwise, you may need to use your judgement to set it up without having that carryover.

Does the Roost Roam talent make AI-controlled elfinkazes move and attack like heroes?

Yes. The part of the talent that says this unit moves and attacks like a hero applies to elfinkazes when controlled by AI as well as by players.

How do end of wave objectives work?

You must make it to the end of the stated wave in order for that objective to be complete. If the scenario ends before that wave, the objective is not considered to be completed. Objectives that state when the scenario ends, however, may be completed even if the scenario is ended before the final wave. Note that as long as the game ends in the stated wave, no matter the reason, unless a loss condition is triggered, that is considered the end of that wave. For example, in Brawnen Chapter 1, Ignition, the first two listed objectives both require certain heir spires to be defeated at the end of Wave 4. However, the third objective of defeating the heir fortress gate can cause the scenario to end before Wave 4. If you were to defeat the heir fortress gate in Wave 3, you would not have made it to Wave 4, and therefore would be unable to complete objectives 1 and 2, even if all the relative spires were already defeated. If you were already in Wave 4 and ended the wave early by defeating the heir fortress gate, then it would count as the end of Wave 4, meaning objectives 1 and 2 could then be completed if you destroyed the relevant spires.

Learning the Vines tutorial, page 18: is the explanation of movement correct?

No. The second Movement section on that page says that you move both the battleborn and dispatch 2 hexes towards the grovetender fortress gate, and that while the battleborn had another movement option, it would have ended on a hex within the shrubbery's range, which you want to avoid. The reasoning given, that you want to avoid being in the shrubbery's range, is incorrect, because the shrubbery has no attack upgrades so cannot attack your units regardless. The battleborn also cannot successfully attack the shrubbery, because the battleborn only deals 1 damage and the shrubbery has a fortification upgrade on the bottom so requires 2 damage to be dealt. So, because there is no benefit in ending movement beside the spire, the tutorial opts for the battleborn to end its movement on the hex that has it making as much progress towards the fortress as possible.

Learning the Vines tutorial, page 6: is the faction name in the third tutorial callout correct?

No. The third tutorial callout on that page says to place swamp landmarks on the Source well adjacent to the brawnen fortress gate and the Source well two spaces from the heir fortress gate, covering the other two Source wells with random landmarks. It should say grovetender fortress gate instead of heir.

Learning the Vines tutorial, page 8: which upgrades should the Grovetenders build in the build phase?

The Build Phase section for Wave 1 and Wave 2 instruct the Grovetenders to build a reetall spire with attack and fortification. Both should instead be attack and range. The graphics in the rest of the walkthrough that show them as attack and range are correct.

Narora Solo 1, Saints Will Persevere: how do the Grovetender spires work for the Narora?

The Grovetender spires cannot be counted when determining Naroran influence as per the scenario rules. Additionally, while they are faction spires controlled by the Narora, they are not Naroran spires, meaning these Grovetender spires do not grant bonus CP during the later prep phases. These spires do still count towards the player's spire limit. Note that the Narora do get the Source from any units that the Grovetender spires defeat, and the spires can be upgraded by the Narora.

Solo Bonus 4, Millipedal Exodus: what corrections apply to the AI rules for Netorut?

The AI rules should state that Netorut can only move on path hexes. As well, the AI rule about placing waygates on Source wells adjacent to Netorut should activate only at the end of Netorut's movement, not at the start. It should read: when Netorut ends his movement adjacent to a non-fortress Source well, a waygate is placed on that Source well.

Solo Brawnen 2, Expansion: can Dywen be displaced while she is unprovoked?

No. The scenario says that Dywen will not move or attack until provoked. She also cannot be displaced while unprovoked. This removes the possibility that a friendly unit will displace her back into the fortress gate.

Solo Griege 1, Can You Ever Turn Back?: is the list of loss conditions complete?

No. Under loss conditions, it should also be listed that the defeat of the Grovetender fortress gate results in a loss for the player.

Solo Grovetenders 1, Punished for Our Peace: what is the correct wording of the first objective?

The first objective should read: use Summon or Evoke no more than 3 times in total this scenario.

Solo Grovetenders 2, Fighting for Our Future: what corrections apply to the loss condition, scenario rules, and AI rules?

The Loss section should say the refractor spire on Hex B is defeated. The Scenario Rules should say the talent Overload on the gateport on Hex E cannot be used by any units. The AI Rules section should have an additional entry that says AI units will not use any gateport except the gateport on Hex E.

Solo Harbinger 1, Lowlands Away: two isles are labelled as number 1, which one is correct?

Two isles are labelled as number 1. The top one should be labelled number 4.

Solo Heirs 3, Narora Borealis: how should Anjebin be placed on the 1-3 event die result?

In Event Die Results 1-3, where it says if not in play, place Anjebin, it should instead say place Anjebin with an asterisk, as Anjebin should be placed on the promoted side.
