Through interrogation of mercenaries who had previously worked in Nantha, the heirs had learned of a naroran technology that focused and intensified Source extraction, providing an ample supply of purified Source for the narora to consume and bathe in. One of these so-called “sourcecores” was believed to be housed in a facility in the mountainous region surrounding Isgluwe Peak, and Royal Talon commander Keem Keeneye was on orders to retrieve it at all costs. Keem was an heir that took “at all costs” very seriously.
After fruitlessly searching the mountain ranges of Osthma for days, one of Keem’s search party found what she was looking for: a quartet of glowing blue orbs a couple of mountains north, slowly bobbing as they ascended an ancient causeway. A faint cyan haze emitted from what appeared to be an opening further up the summit.
“The narora must be getting infusions at the sourcecore,” Keem concluded. “Joust.”
A penguinblood snapped to attention.
“Ride back to our main camp as fast as you can,” Keem ordered. “Let them know that we have located the sourcecore and could use some light reinforcements.” She marked the spot where the distant narora had been seen on a map and handed it to the penguinblood. He saluted her and hopped on his ostrich, which quickly whisked him out of sight.
