When the heir scout was captured by the brawnen, the island of Will had already been planning a speedy assault of its neighbors, and while the giants’ attack and blockade had slowed those plans a little, King Koppe had no intention of backing off from his intentions, especially not after the troops had been roused to attack the brawnen. The Grand Heir Fighting Force may have been short on elfinkaze, but it still had plenty of soldiers ready to play their part in the first step of making the heirs’ name a reality.
Though fighting the already mobilized brawnen army was the top priority, the heirs also had designs on the naroran island of Osthma and the grovetender island of Rapport. As such, Jaelana had developed a stopgap measure to cripple narora and grovetender forces so the heirs could focus on their more direct foes.
“Neither of them are prepared for an assault at this juncture,” Darb explained to an underling en route to the heir rendezvous point. “The narora have always been isolationist. They kept to themselves before the Joining, and the same has been true since then. The grovetenders are more alert to what has been going on in the other islands, but they are still nursing their wounds from the brawnen attacks on Reciprocity and Rapport. We do not have the time or resources to take their capitals yet, but if we strike deep into their territories, devastating their fighting forces and spires at home, the heads of state in Yrtel and Nantha will be floundering to recover long enough for us to finish off the brawnen.”
